All roads lead to Rome (Proverb)

ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME

  • There was a time when this was almost literally true: the Roman road network focused on the Imperial City.

Meaning: Any way that you do something is alright.

  • Also "There's more than one way to skin a cat."

Mini-Dialogue: Michael, asks his teacher, Matt, for help.

Michael: What's the best way to improve my listening skills?
Matt: Actually, there's no single "best" way. After all, "All roads lead to Rome."
Michael: Matt... uh... I'm not going to Rome...
Matt: [laughs] No, Mike, it just means that whichever way you go, you'll get there. However you study, your listening will improve. Try listening to pop songs, or watching movies or TV.
Michael: OK, thanks, Matt.
Matt: No problem.
